September/October 2023 in the Senior Room

16th Nov 2023

It has been a very busy first half term in the Senior Room since we welcomed everyone back to school after the summer holidays.

We began the term with lots of cooperative work to help us get to know our new classmates and to help us to work together. Students really enjoyed this work at the beginning of the year.

Our 6th Class girls had a wonderful day in Eureka Secondary School where they joined up with the 6th Class girls in Moynalty to take part in a blitz with other schools in the local area. Our girls played amazingly and ended up beating Carrigabruise NS in the final of the Shield competition. We were extremely proud of them in how they represented our school.

We have been busy working on our Gaeilge verbs and sentence structure this term and pupils have enjoyed the hands-on activities to reinforce this learning.

We celebrated Maths Week and pupils took part in various maths challenges each morning which they all seemed to enjoy.

Before we finished up for the Halloween break, the pupils researched an African country of their choice and created a project to present to the class. The standard of research was excellent and it was lovely to see some pupils choose to present their projects digitally.

We were very fortunate to start a new sports initiative called 'Futsal in the Yard' which is run by the FAI. This will run for 6 weeks and we look forward to taking part in the FAI Primary 5s soccer competition in March of next year in the MDL grounds in Navan.
